Therapeutic Reflexology
Concentrate
on reflex points on the feet corresponding
to all areas of the body, working through
the zones to ensure a state of equilibrium.
It's a traditional Chinese belief that a
part of the body contains the whole. Foot
and Hand Reflexology is based on the
scientific knowledge that there are zones
and reflex areas in the feet and hands which
correspond to all areas of the body.
The body is divided into
10 energy zones, called meridian lines, that
run vertically, covering the entire body.
The foot reflects the body, reflecting these
zones in its components. Pressure applied to
reflex points on the foot stimulates the
energy lines, nerve endings and vascular
flow to different parts of the body
Disease has proven to be
created by stress 80% of the time.
Reflexology reduces stress in all parts of
the body by generating deep, calm
relaxation. By applying direct pressure to
points on the feet or hands corresponding to
stressed body areas, the tension is reduced
and there is a resulting physiological
change in the body. Stress and tension also
restrain the cardiovascular system and
restrict blood flow, resulting in sluggish
circulation. By reducing the stress and
tension, Reflexology allows the
cardiovascular vessels to conduct the flow
of blood naturally and easily.
What
is reflexology?
Reflexology has been practised for
thousands of years. It is based on the
premise that there are zones and reflex
areas in the feet and hands that correspond
to all glands, organs, parts and systems of
the body.
Applying pressure to these reflex areas,
using the thumb, finger and hand will result
in the reduction of stress which promotes
physiological changes in the body.
What can reflexology treat?
- Stress.
- Migraine.
- Sinus problems.
- Back problems.
- Breathing problems.
- Hormonal imbalances.
- Digestive disorders.
- Circulatory problems.
What happens during a reflexology session?
The reflexologist will work on your feet,
or hands if necessary, noting any problem
areas. You may experience some discomfort — this
is an indication of congestion or imbalance
in a corresponding part of the body. In
general, the experience will be pleasant and
relaxing. An average session will last about one
hour.
How many treatments will be necessary?
The course of treatment will vary
depending on your body's needs. Your
reflexologist will discuss this with you at
the first session. After the first couple of treatments you
may experience feelings of well-being and
relaxation or you may feel lethargic or even
nauseous. This is transitory, but does
provide your reflexologist with vital
information on how your body is responding
to treatment.
